What I love about Jozi is the inner city regeneration projects.
Has anyone visited Arts-on-Main in Main street? Its an inner city sanctuary for artists and cultured persons, and perfect for a quiet cup of coffee in the courtyard full of olive trees! My favorite show on right now is called "Johannesburg in space and time". Its totally unique; anyone needing to find magic in Jozi streets again should go and see it - its on til the end of the month. I bought a poster from the show of these six manhole covers which are absolutely beautiful! Go figure... I love Jozi. |

Jozi is a melting pot of culture, creed, race, heritage, nationality, background and tastes. The landscapes reflect its people: so vast and contrasting. From the mine dumps that outline Ekhuruleni's horizon whilst jet engines buzz overhead to the green hills of Florida and everything in between. But I think one of my most favourite things about this city is the mix of friendships forged. Where white, black, indian, coloured, yellow, pink or green can come together: where an Indian-Scottish-Italian can befriend a black white girl who doesn't understand a word of Afrikaans but can tell you exactly what taxi route to take from Noord to Alex. Or a white black girl that hails from Zim who has a Portuguese friend who's courting a born-again coloured gangster from Westbury. Man, I love this City!!!!
My dream is to one day travel, but if I never do I can look back and know that I had the world at home...I had the world in Jozi. |

Heard one of the apostilic team guys, Mark Meeske preach at Cornerstone yesterday, He's jus relocated from Balito... He said the most enouraging thing about Jozi, He said "my wife Cole, our sons Nathan and Liam and I, have been most blessed by the friendly people in Joburg rather than anything else!"
Made me realise just how much I'd forgotten this aspect of our city. He preached on alowing ourselves to be amazed by God yet again, and how many of us have lost that sense of amazement! I love this city all over again!!!!
Really enourage everyone to order or download that sermon (Mark Meeske-sun 28 Feb '10) from http://www.cornerstonechurch.co.za/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=27&Itemid=52 |

Haha, wow this is great! a whole lot of Jozi lovers exposing the awesomeness that the father intended... was filming in Jozi yesterday with my best friend, as our church is now going through a season of LOVE JOBURG! I was overwhelmed by just how beautiful our city is even while having coffee at Greenstone... We should all take some time one day to drive between the buildings that tv cameras only show from the top.... it is amazing!:] A CITY ON A HILL CANNOT BE HIDDEN!!! |

Joburg my Joburg! City so large, City so great. City so fun, City so fast. I'm a very proud, pariotic joburger. Joburg is the best city in Africa. It is the HQs of business, trading and finance for SA and Africa.
I stay in Linden knowing well that i reside in a place that breeds giants such as Mandela, the Oppenheimers, Tokyo Sexwale, and Companies like Debeers, brands like Kaizer Chiefs. the list is so endless... Joburg my joburg. I love Jozi! |

I love Jozi...truly do. It has an awesome history and a greater future. The nation will be amazed at how a handful, compelled by God's desire, have turned Jozi up-side-down. JOZI - Incomparible Diversity, Magnificent Beauty, Ever-Changing, Never Sleeping, from Sandton City to Meadowlands to Muldersdrift, I LOVE JOZI AND ALL OF YOU IN IT. |

I love this city, because of it's rich multly-cultural and ethnic diversity. I love the fact that as a city we have the freedom to choose not to be negative, to build this city of ours by speaking life into it. |

I love the way the men, women and children on the streets of Jhb are so friendly. At the one traffic stop on my way to work, I see the regulars there, asking for money, food, or collecting rubbish. We recognize eachother and greet eachother and even share a few friendly words.
Jozi is a city of people with fire in their eyes, a people who have hope in their hearts for a great future. I am proud to be part of this city! Rock on Jozi! |

It is something that im sure so many people find utterly frustrating... TAXIS...
But I often find myself laughing at the creative ways in which they learn't to work the transport system. They know exactly when to go through a red robot, how to squeeze through limited spaces and how to dodge traffic jams, while the rest of us sit amongst an automobile jungle. No where in the world will you find these innovative people... You just gotta love them!!! :) |

I grew up in a small town (PMB) and during varsity I always said to myself that I would never let myself end up in a big city......especially JHB. All I had heard was how snobby everyone was and about all the crime? Well God had other plans....good plans! So there I was, 5 years later in JHB and boy was I shocked. I found Joey's to be full of possibility, there's the feeling that anything is possible. I have met some amazing people, found a good job and a great church. What more can you ask for?
JHB has made me realise that in life there are always going to be those who find whats negative about something and try and convince everyone around them to think likewise. So stand firm, explore, find out for yourself first....who knows you may discover something very precious indeed! |

We were in Parkview not so long ago, and isn't it just wonderful to see streets full of trees. These oak trees are so old and big that it looked like an oak tree tunnel. Wonderful to see. |

I have always loved the architecture and buildings in the CBD. It's awesome and I'm hoping it'll be restored before 2010. Can't wait for the great city to awake again. |

Among other Jozi highlights,I love discovering the coffee shops hidden away in the tree-lined hightstreets of Jozi. Two of my favourites would be Vida in Parktown North for it's afro-porto street vibe, and scuzi's in Parkview for it's fantastic chicken, avo and halloumi burger and vaulted ceilings! |

Hi & Welcome to "www.ilovejozi.co.za".
The purpose of this website is to tell a story, the story of Jozi, Egoli, Johannesburg, the City of Gold. In a city that always seems to focus on the negative, wouldn't it be great to focus on the POSITIVE.
This is why we created a website dedicated to telling the story of how great our City of Jozi is.
So, we invite you to leave your story, your comment, your thoughts, about this great city, OUR CITY OF GOLD, Jozi!
If you love Jozi tell us ..... |
